Ober Gatlinburg Open for Winter Sports
Skiing, snowboarding and snow tubing open at Tennessee’s Only Ski Resort
Gatlinburg, Tenn., (Jan. 2, 2011) - Winter weather has finally arrived in Gatlinburg and snowmaking is in full force at Ober Gatlinburg. With projected temperatures in the mid 20′s to low teens, the weather forecast should allow for snowmaking for the next few nights, with possible daytime snowmaking temperatures also.
Opening day is scheduled for Tuesday, January 3 at Noon, with night skiing beginning on schedule starting at 6 pm. Ober will begin the season with Castle Run, Cub Way and the Ski School slopes and plans to open more slopes soon. Opening day will also feature snow tubing with sessions beginning at 11am.
Ober Gatlinburg features nine trails serviced by two quad lifts, one double lift and one surface lift. The Resort offers terrain for all abilities, from a beginner experiencing the joy of snow sports for the first time, to a seasoned expert hitting the moguls and terrain park. Ober Gatlinburg also has a popular snow tubing park, skiing and snowboarding equipment rental, an ice skating rink, aerial tramway, alpine slide, restaurants, shops and more.
