Event Attendee Parking
Parking: Parking for the event will be available throughout the downtown area during the event.
Handicap Parking will be available on Court Ave. where the old SunTrust bank building was located.
Admission to Bloomin’ Barbeque & Bluegrass is FREE.

Courthouse Closing
The Sevier County Courthouse will close at 1pm on Friday May 18, 2012 so that we may further prepare for the event.
Street Closure – phased street closing (basically the same as last year)
Thursday May 17 approximately 7pm: Bruce St. from Parkway to intersection with Court Ave. will close. West bound lane of Bruce St. from intersection with Court Ave. to Forks of the River Parkway will close. Court Ave. from Sevier County Bank to intersection with Bruce St. will close. South bound section of Court Ave. from intersection with Bruce St. to Joy St. will close.
Friday May 18 1pm: The remainders of the streets surrounding the Courthouse will close.
Sunday May 20 11am: All streets will reopen.

Eating
Bloomin’ Barbeque & Bluegrass attendees will be able to dine on barbeque from vendors who also happen to be Champion Barbeque Competitors. Three of the teams that participate in the cook-off will also be selling their championship winning barbeque. Event attendees cannot sample barbeque from all contest participants.
Everything from barbeque sandwiches to full racks of ribs will be available from our vendors. Additionally, we’ll have baked potatoes, corn on the cob, fried catfish, fried desserts, popcorn, cotton candy and traditional festival foods.
Cook-Off:

* Sanctioned by the Kansas City Barbeque Society
* Teams compete for $15,000 in cash & prizes in this Bush’s Best Tennessee State Championship Cook Off

* Cook Teams begin cooking Friday Morning

* Saturday competitions: beef brisket, chicken, pork ribs, pork and dessert
* Winning Cook Teams receive prize money and trophies Saturday May 19, 2012, at 4pm.

Mountain Soul Vocal Competition
Mountain Soul Vocal Competition – Saturday May 19, 11:30am
The 30 finalists (20 ages 13+ / 10 ages 12 and under) from a variety of states will sing songs written by Dolly Parton during one of the most unique vocal competitions around. Contestants should not impersonate Dolly physically or vocally, but instead sing in their own style. Contestants will be judged by a panel of 3 judges from the entertainment industry and 1st, 2nd and 3rd prize will be awarded in each age division. Ages 13+ 1st prize will be $500, a Dolly autographed guitar and a recording session in Nashville, TN. Ages 12 and under 1st prize will be two Dollywood season passes, $100 prize money and a Dolly autographed guitar.
Kids’ Zone (located at the event): Games and entertainment for the kids will be available throughout the event at the Kids’ Zone. These include inflatables, face painting, etc. There may be a nominal charge for some children’s activities.
Appalachian Heritage & Culture: The Bluegrass Music Tent – operated by The Music Outlet, will feature bluegrass instruments that kids can touch, pluck and get a quick lesson in.
Arts & Crafts
Approximately 30 crafters ranging from handcrafted rocking chairs and pottery to custom jewelry makers will be on-site demonstrating their techniques and selling their products. This craft show places a strong emphasis on fine art pieces and mountain hand crafts.
Knoxville TVA Employee’s Credit Union Kids Burger Cook Off: During this 5th Annual event, children between the ages of 6 and 16 will have the opportunity to compete in their very own cooking event on Friday May 18. Children must sign up in advance and will cook chicken provided by the contest. Entry fees are $25 per team and a team may have between 1 and 5 members.
