Sugarlands Horse Back Riding OPEN

  Great Smoky Mountains National Park announced that the Sugarlands Riding Stables in Great Smoky Mountains National Park, just inside the Gatlinburg, Tennessee park entrance, has reopened.  Hours of operation are from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. daily through the Thanksgiving Holiday
weekend. Cost for a one-hour guided horseback ride is $25 per person, plus tax.  Carriage rides are offered at Cades Cove Riding Stables.

  Smokemont Riding Stables offers horse-drawn wagon rides.  Great Smoky Mountains National Park staff announced that Smokemont Riding Stables, the only stable in North Carolina, now offers horse-drawn wagon rides.  This new service provides visitors the opportunity to experience this historic mode of horse-drawn transportation on the historic route of the
Oconaluftee Turnpike, one of the earliest routes through the mountains.  Wagons accommodate between 4-6 passengers and the fee for a one-half hour ride is $8 per person.

October Events

  Wears Valley Pumpkin Festival Wears Valley Road is a must see for families visiting the Smoky Mountains for fall festivities.  Take this scenic drive and stop in at the several mom and pop restaurants and shops roadside.

Oct 1st - Dec 31st - 12th Annual Smoky Mountain Harvest Festival.  Old Fashioned Hayrides downtown Gatlinburg.  A fun filled hayride with enjoyable breath taking views of our beautiful Smoky Mountains fall foliage.  Hayrides depart from traffic light #6 at the Smoky Mountain
Mall.  Hayrides depart approximately every 45 minutes. Call 865-436-3897 for more information.

Oct 3rd - Nov 1st - Dollywood’s National Music & Harvest Celebration Four weeks of free Southern gospel concerts, crafters and fantastic foods.  Enjoy the splendor of Autumn in the Smoky Mountains with the sounds of Southern gospel music’s biggest names including The McKameys, Gold City, Karen Peck & New River, the Florida Boys and many, many more! (Closed Thursdays)

Oct 9th-26th - Gatlinburg Craftsmen’s Fair.  Over 200 Craftspeople assemble to exhibit their historic trades at the Gatlinburg Convention Center.  This event consistently attracts the country’s finest artists and craftsmen.  One of the items that makes the Gatlinburg Craftsmen’s Fair so unique is the fact that the artists not only make their art available for viewing and sale, but they also demonstrate their special talents and skills. Adults $5.00; children 12 and under free.

October 10th and 11th - Spurin’ “S” Rodeo with calf roping, bull riding, and bucking horses at the Sevier County Fair Grounds in Sevierville TN.  Eight different classes with National points awarded.  Information: Call Mike Stalans at 865-933-8588 or the Sevier County Fair Grounds at 865-453-0770.
